Russell McVeagh partners scoop IFLR Women in Law Awards
Two Russell McVeagh partners have picked up awards at the IFLR Australasian Women in Business Law Awards, held in Sydney on 16 August.
These awards celebrate Australasian firms with the best gender diversity, innovation, mentoring, work-life balance, pro bono work and talent management initiatives, along with recognising women who are leaders in their legal fields.
Pip Greenwood, a partner in the Auckland corporate team, won the Australasian award for Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity. This follows Pip's recent third win of the ALB NZ Dealmaker of the Year award earlier in May 2012.
Mei Fern Johnson, a partner in the Wellington corporate team, has won the Australasian Rising Star award.
Congratulations to Mei Fern and Pip. Many of the other nominees were from Australian firms, so the wins acknowledge them as leading lawyers in their fields, and as inspirational female lawyers, not only in New Zealand but across Australasia.
Russell McVeagh big New Zealand winners at the Australasian Law Awards 2012
Russell McVeagh has scooped up all three major New Zealand awards at the 2012 ALB, and three of the five awards for which the firm was nominated.
The Russell McVeagh Corporate Advisory Group (Auckland and Wellington), won New Zealand Deal Team of the Year 2012, in recognition of all their outstanding work in the past year; Corporate Advisory Group Partner Pip Greenwood also won New Zealand Dealmaker of the Year. This is Pip's third Dealmaker of the Year Award - she also won in 2008 and 2010 - and the hat trick is a huge achievement.
The $4.3 billion Telecom Demerger, on which Russell McVeagh was the sole New Zealand legal advisor, also won the New Zealand Deal of the Year award, scooping four other finalist deals that Russell McVeagh had also advised on.
The ALB Awards are the premier awards event for the Australian and New Zealand legal industries. They are a well-established and much anticipated annual event, gathering over 500 industry professionals from around the two countries for the biggest night on the industry calendar. The awards recognise and celebrate the achievements and successes of the legal profession over the previous 12 months.
This year's award winners were announced at the Awards Dinner at the Sydney Town Hall, on Thursday 24th May.
