Law Scholarship for University Students

Indebtedness has, of necessity, become a way of life for many university students. Russell McVeagh recognises this, and offers tertiary law scholarships which help to offset study and living costs.  These scholorships are also a sought-after start into a challenge-filled legal career!

We're offering:

  • $2000 for each year you're studying law, plus an $500 donation to your law school for each year that you're a Russell McVeagh scholar.
  • Work experience at Russell McVeagh during part of the winter term holidays.
  • A Russell McVeagh solicitor or Partner as your mentor, for support, guidance, and practical help throughout your time at law-school.
  • The coveted opportunity to summer clerk at Russell McVeagh in your penultimate year of law.

We're looking for:

  • Law school students who are all-round achievers with top academic results.
  • Personalities characterised by drive, enthusiasm, integrity and commitment.
  • Superior communication skills, both written and oral, alongside the ability to relate well to others.
  • The desire to be the very best in your chosen career of law.

You apply by:

  • Completing an application form and attach a covering letter. The letter should outline why you're an ideal candidate for a Russell McVeagh Scholarship.

Along with these, enclose:

  • A reference from someone who knows you well (not family).
  • A copy of your academic transcript.
  • A copy of your CV (please do not staple or send originals).
  • A copy of your school testimonial.
  • Two good-quality passport-sized photos, named on the reverse.

Applications forms should be available from your law school mid July.  The 2010  scholarship round closes on Friday 13 August.  Please contact Rebecca Varga if you have any questions.

* Remember - scholarship winners must retain a place at a New Zealand University Law School!
