Russell McVeagh's Infrastructure Group draws on the wide variety of skills from the firm's Property, Corporate Advisory, Resource Management and Litigation teams to advise clients on all aspects of infrastructure projects.
The group provides advice and associated legal services in relation to:
- the planning, acquisition and financing of construction development projects (including joint venture activities);
- commercial and general advice through all stages of tendering and construction;
- the preparation and negotiation of relevant contracts and associated documentation;
- advice on management of specific contractual 'hotspots', including dispute avoidance and dispute resolution (negotiation, mediation, arbitration and litigation);
- in liaison with other practice groups within the firm, to manage clients' requirements in resource management, intellectual property and employment matters.
Members of the group act for a number of major clients across a variety of sectors including:
- commercial property owners and developers;
- utilities and infrastructure companies;
- construction and contracting companies;
- regulatory bodies and trade associations within the industry;
- industry consultants and specifiers.
The group has played a critical role in many major infrastructure projects in New Zealand, working on large and medium scale property projects for developers and contractors, construction projects, resource management processes and litigation and alternative dispute resolution.
