Background:

Ed has extensive commercial property experience both in New Zealand in the UK. Ed specialises in commercial property development, sales and leasing, and all associated construction and financing work. He has had significant experience in the sale and purchase of multi-tenanted commercial and retail assets, and forestry portfolios. more

His transaction history includes numerous office, industrial, retail, hotel, marina and multi-unit residential developments. Ed works closely with the firm's Corporate team on the property aspects of many corporate mergers and acquisitions.  Ed joined us from major UK law firm Herbert Smith in 1999. He has been a Partner with Russell McVeagh since 2004.

 

Transaction Experience

  • Acting for Goodman Group in relation to all elements of its property acquisition development (including the acquisition and development of Highbrook) and capital raising work. 
  • Acting for Multiplex in connection with the acquisition and development of numerous properties including the acquisition of the ASB Bank Centre Auckland and the development of the premium grade office tower situated at 80 Queen Street. 
  • Acting for AMP Capital in the acquisition of its Australian funds of various New Zealand properties, including a share in Bayfair shopping centre in Tauranga and the Palms Shopping Centre in Christchurch. 
  • Undertaking due diligence and acquisition negotiations for a substantial part of the Fletcher Challenge Forests on behalf of Canadian and American Pension Funds. 
  • Acting for the developer of a $600 million hotel and apartment complex in the South Island. 
  • Acting for PWC as the anchor tenant in the development of PWC Tower in Auckland. 
  • Acting for Fonterra in their head office relocation and consolidation. 
  • Acting for ING in its acquisition of the DressMart portfolio.
