Campbell has a very broad taxation practice, primarily focused on M & A, property, private equity/venture capital, managed funds, financing (including acting on nearly all Kauri Bond issuances to date), trust and asset planning matters.

He also has considerable experience advising in the context of Inland Revenue investigations and dispute resolution, and has assisted clients in making submissions on proposed tax law changes affecting their business/industry.
Campbell joined Russell McVeagh upon graduating from university and has been a partner since 2005. He spent several years working for Clifford Chance in London, where his work primarily involved securitisation, structured property finance and general debt capital markets / property .
- Advising on mergers and acquisitions (domestic and cross border), including entity choice for new ventures.
- Advising on structured financing transactions.
- Advice on all aspects of the portfolio investment entity (PIE) regime and managed funds generally.
- Providing tax and GST advice in relation to property and financing transactions (including nearly every Kauri Bond issuance to date).
- Providing advice in relation to employee share purchase/option schemes (including obtaining Inland Revenue approval where appropriate) and tax issues arising in an employment context.
- Advising on establishment and operation of charitable trusts and other charitable entities, and tax issues applying to trusts generally.
- Advising on income tax (including withholding taxes and double tax agreements in cross-border transactions) and GST issues arising in an IP/IT, licensing, royalties (etc) context.
- Advising on New Zealand's international tax rules (including the fair dividend rate (FDR) rules), double tax agreement issues and cross border transactions generally.
- Drafting applications for obtaining binding rulings from the Inland Revenue.
- Dealing with Inland Revenue investigations, dispute resolution, settlements and the litigation process (where necessary).
- Drafting submissions on proposed tax legislation, and Inland Revenue policy/interpretation statements and public rulings.
